The ADA Seal of Acceptance
When shopping for oral hygiene products, it can sometimes be challenging to separate cosmetic oral hygiene products with fancy marketing messages from truly effective products that belong in your oral hygiene routine. American Dental Association understands these challenges. In 1931, they started their Seal of Acceptance Program to help consumers identify the quality oral hygiene products your family needs.
In the years since it has become started, the ADA Seal of Acceptance has become the industry standard of quality for participating manufacturers.
Manufacturers can participate in the program on a voluntary basis. Before a manufacturer launches a new oral hygiene product, they can submit it to the ADA for testing and research. The ADA tests the active ingredients for safety and its effectiveness as part of an oral hygiene routine. If the product meets the rigorous guidelines, it will receive certification for the Seal of Acceptance to be printed on the label.
To further help consumers the ADA also posts an index of all approved products on their website. This allows you to research oral hygiene products in the comfort of your own home.
If you have any questions about the safety and effectiveness of the oral hygiene products your family uses, you can call Lifepoint Dental Partners at 515.965.5999 to set up a consultation.
